Big loft with skylights available
The Sterling Building is under development Sterling Building
Developer Roland Pott has purchased and is renovating 811 S. Broad St. in Trenton. Trenton Lofts recently toured the building.

There's an opportunity for a someone to buy in to a raw space and build a custom loft.

Cooper's Crossing enters last phase
  Cooper's Crossing
Cooper's Crossing, the Ryan Homes development on the Rt. 29 waterfront is entering it's last phase.

This is a nice, new way to buy in to Trenton at a cheap price.

Excavations started on Delaware Run
Digging up beer bottles at the old Champale Site Delaware Run
Delaware Run will be a development of modestly priced homes overlooking the Riverwalk Park and the Delaware River.

I don't know if they've really dug up beer bottles at the site. However I wouldn't be surprised given the property's history as bottling factory for that famous malt beverage.

Reinvent Trenton Roundup
Latest articles on Trenton Economics (and Politics) Reinvent Trenton

Here's a round-up of new Reinvent Trenton blogs.

  • Taxation as a revitalization tool1.6
  • A good first step towards Trenton's revitalization is reinventing its tax system. Restructuring the tax system will take strong leadership, a good ability to communicate and a desire to be a leader in NJ's efforts to reinvent its urban centers. My hope is that our next mayor can take up the mantle of making this important change.

  • An ill-conceived partial State takeover of Trenton12.31
  • The Trenton Times reported in "A 'Capital' idea that may improve Trenton" that a state agency, the Capitol City Redevelopment Corporation (CCRC), is seeking the power to use taxpayer dollars through bonds and fees to become a developer in downtown Trenton. Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, is pushing this bill through the legislature.

  • The Arrogance of Green Economics12.18
  • How many of us have started industrial scale businesses that have gone on to produce great value and therefore great wealth? How many have started industrial companies that produce "green" products?

  • Fixing Beautiful Trenton12.11
  • Last Christmas, I wrote an article about how community spirit is a necessary and present ingredient for Trenton's revitalization. "Community spirit as an economic engine" Beautiful Trenton is the best example of that spirit to date but there are problems.

As always, my hope is that the Trenton related blogs help city activists form their ideas about how Trenton can revitalize.

Heard around Town
  Tidbits for prospective Trentonians
Tenant defections at the Broad St. Bank
Trenton Lofts has heard grumblings from tenants at the Broad St. Bank concerning everything from lack of hot water, to bad management to drug dealing. It may all get cleared up, but Trenton Lofts suggests getting insight from current tenants before putting down the deposit.

Ten Trenton mayoral candidates expected.
Trenton's non-partisan election system can lead to unruly politics and this year will be wild with long time incumbent Doug Palmer stepping aside. Trenton Lofts doesn't have a favorite yet as none have jumped out from the relatively weak pack.

Beautiful Trenton's essay contest is underway.
The group is soliciting essays from the public to produce "positively spun" homilies on our city.

You can cut a deal on renting a unit in 6 Peace St. in downtown Trenton. The one & two bedroom apartments are steps away from the Marriott, the War Memorial, the Capitol and lovely S. Warren St. Agent John Lamb (on behalf of the owner) will work a deal to get the right tenant.
